HYGGE Pure
Purifying tomorrow’s air, today.
Designed by Vlad Tirdea
This project responds to the rising concern of airborne micro-nano plastics (MNPs) in domestic environments. These ultrafine particles, released from everyday items such as furniture, carpets and synthetic fabrics, can remain suspended in the air and are small enough to bypass standard HEPA filters, posing significant health risks over time.
HYGGE Pure is an air purifier that integrates a multi-layer filtration system, featuring certified electrospun nanofibers capable of capturing particles down to 100 nanometres in diameter. Experimental validation using SEM and EDX confirmed the improved performance of this media over HEPA filters alone. To address end-of-life concerns, the device features a zip-seal bag, allowing users to safely contain and recycle the filter, reducing re-release into the environment.
Alongside technical performance, the purifier embraces sustainability and user centred design. The product is made from sustainably sourced bamboo plywood and anodised aluminium, offering a warm, domestic aesthetic intended to complement interior spaces. Designed to be quiet, efficient and intuitive to use, it promotes cleaner air through smarter, more responsible design.
