Vismo - Phil Smith
A wearable vital signs monitor for detecting and tracking illness in infants
Understanding if your child is ill can be difficult when armed only with a thermometer, as many parents are. However, measuring body temperature in isolation is not always enough to indicate illness. This uncertainty results in anxiety and stressful trips to the GP, 25% of which could be avoided each year if an illness was instead treated at home, or by a pharmacist.
The solution is Vismo; the first wearable vital signs monitor designed to track respiratory rate, heart rate and body temperature in infants. It is a reusable, home monitoring tool that provides parents with greater knowledge and reassurance when worried their child may be ill. Allowing parents to track more than just temperature provides them with a holistic overview of their child’s health. The patch attaches directly to the skin using soft, hypoallergenic adhesive pads, allowing it to be worn for up to 8 hours at a time. Within the accompanying app, parents can identify and track early indicators of illness to check if their child's vital signs are within the normal ranges. If that's not the case, parents now have the knowledge to confidently consult a health care professional before the illness progresses.
