Scrub - Emily Duff
Travelling has been popular among young British people since the 1970s with the introduction of the European inter-railing pass. Around 200 000 people travel with an inter-railing pass every year. This user group often travel with a backpack, visiting different cities everyday. It is important for the user to be able to easily wash and organise their clothes on the move as dirty clothing harbours microorganisms which are harmful to the human body. The hand washing laundry process can be time consuming and messy making it quite an undesirable but nonetheless important task.
Scrub is a travel washing tool which tackles many of the problems faced by the user when washing their dirty clothing by hand in a sink. The zip up mesh bag stores dirty laundry, keeping it separate from clean clothing in the users backpack. As well as storage, the bag helps the user wash clothing in a sink quicker with less mess. The base of the bag has embedded suction cups to keep the product in place at the bottom of the sink. This also acts as plug to keep the water in the sink. Inside the bag the silicone base provides a textured washboard surface to help get rid of stains and speed up the washing process.
