Tremor Spoon

T.Spoon is a ergonomically focused design that is a result of user testing and design iterations to find the most efficient, simplest and intuitive product re-imagination of how somebody living with tremors can make a hot drink for themselves as well as a friend or relative.

The product features a flat base to be efficient for lifting as much material as possible with curved sides to allow the maximum amount of comfort for the user. The shape conforms through the scoop to the handle for intuitive use of the spoon to allow the user feel as connected and comfortable whenever using the spoon.

The spoons conform to a shape that follows through from the scoop to the end of the handle. The have a draft which allows for the spoons to be easily manufactured by injection moulding.

The spoons are completely machine washable at high temperatures as most users not able to safely wash dishes by hand. They spoons can withstand temperatures up to 115 degrees celsius. The spoons have filleted internals where there are no corners so that product cannot get stuck on the inside to make it easier to use and clean.

The spoons come in two different sizes that fit within each other. The sizes are the same as a Teaspoon and Tablespoon which are measured by the opening at the top of the spoons. The spoons can be stored together like this in a cutlery drawer or left atop a counter if commonly used.

The spoons are made from a bio-material thermoplastic called PP-H50-500-14. A polypropylene is 40% filled with a wood natural fibre which adds strength and rigidity which is a key property required for a user that will be highly likely dropped in that environment. The material is circular where it is sourced from wood trees that are dying. The product then can be safely decomposed after they have been used or are not fit for purpose anymore.
