My project aimed to find a better way to motivate people to stick to their diet plans in the long run, thus avoiding the health risks of yo-yo dieting. A traditional scale is an effective tool for aiding in weight loss as it instantly tells a person their weight. However, there are also drawbacks as human weight fluctuates throughout the day due to fluid and food intake, hence it is difficult to keep track of weight loss consistently. Another tool that is often used to aid in weight loss are diet apps. Diet apps typically show the calories consumed, again this isn’t always particularly helpful if the user has no concept of these numbers, which means they won’t be motivated by them.
