Hyper deformable lunar wheel.

Designed for future lunar and planetary exploration, this non-pneumatic wheel concept rethinks how rovers traverse extreme terrain. Axion uses a compliant spring-driven structure with super elastic Nitinol spokes that flex and absorb impacts while maintaining traction and stability across uneven surfaces. A lightweight aluminium rim supports a flexible tread system designed to adapt to challenging terrain without relying on air pressure. The design aims to reduce maintenance and improve reliability in harsh extraterrestrial environments where conventional air filled wheels are prone to failure and repairs or replacements are difficult to carry out.
