The Best Cup of Tea in the World - Josh Ward
165 million cups of tea are drank each day in the UK alone! If just 0.01% of those cups were made with this product that would equate to 1.5 million units sold. At one point in time over 2 million households in the UK had a teasmade. Users wanted a cup of tea ready in the morning but many got fed up of their Teasmades and stopped using them. This project began with the premise that Teasmades lost their popularity because of a lack of good design, rather than a lack of desire.
The device is made of a ceramic material and more reminiscent of a teapot than a kettle while the tray is inspired by traditional Japanese tea trays. The product is designed to be as simple as possible. People like making tea, and the product complements rather than replaces the tea drinking experience users already love.
Giving the user complete control over the temperature, brewing time and the tea leaves they use allows the tea to be made perfectly to their tastes every time. And as with a teasmade, the tea can be prepared the night before so you can wake up to a perfect, and freshly brewed, cup of tea. You can even use your phone to remotely order a cup of tea, or have one be ready to welcome you home as you arrive back from work.
