Foot Operated Winch

For casualty recovery into a RIB

Designed by Hector Wedderburn

This product is designed to significantly improve the process of recovering a casualty from the water into a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). Recognizing the inherent challenges of manual recovery over the vessel’s tubes, this design addresses critical operational factors, including secure handling, rescuer stability, and the intense physical exertion typically required.

By incorporating a foot-operated winch that delivers a substantial mechanical advantage, the system facilitates a considerably safer and more efficient rescue procedure. Engineered to withstand harsh, corrosive marine environments, the device is constructed entirely from laser-cut 316-grade stainless steel. This construction ensures a highly robust and durable product capable of enduring rigorous, long-term use at sea.
