Ember

Period pain relief device for female athletes

Designed by Cara Robson

This project responds to the overlooked impact of menstrual pain on the performance of female athletes. Ember has been designed as the first period pain relief device specifically created for athletes to wear during training and competition. While the technical details remain confidential due to an ongoing patent application, the final design is discreet, lightweight, and sweat proof, making it well suited to the demands of sport.

User interviews and prototype testing were conducted with athletes ranging from Olympic to recreational level, ensuring the design meets the practical needs of users.

The next steps for Ember focus on transforming it into a market-ready product that athletes will be able to purchase, with the goal of improving health and performance in female sport.
