Akuna - Josh Geddes
Akuna is a hand held device which allows an individual to track their ongoing levels of stress on a daily basis. This is achieved by measuring their heart rate variability (HRV), a proven biometric of stress. Akuna uses ECG technology to accurately track a person’s HRV through short readings each morning. The device attaches to the chest using gel pads which hold the device in place and acts as a conductor between the skin and the inbuilt electrodes.
By allowing users to identify their stress levels and highlight the accumulation of their ongoing stress it enables individuals to develop strategies to deal with the situation. User’s will be able to track their chronic stress using the accompanying app and be given an HRV score after each reading. Activities and systems to deal with stressful periods will be suggested through the app aiding the user to improve their HRV score. This in turn minimises any long term health consequences and improves quality of life for the user.
