Quick Release System

Formula Student is an international design competition where University student teams design, build, and compete a single-seat formula vehicle. As with all motorsport, Performance, Lightweight and Reliability are essential to success.

The Quick Release System achieves a 30% mass reduction of the driveshaft assembly, used to transfer power from the motor to the tyres, improving the dynamic response of the vehicle. It can be used in most motorsport applications.

Maintenance in motorsport is highly time-critical, and existing driveshaft design can cause delays or even missed events if a failure of one of the components occurs. The average time to access and repair the routine service components of a driveshaft is 110 minutes.

With the Quick Release System, the driveshaft can be quickly extracted by releasing two circlips. Repair or replacement can be achieved in under 30 minutes, while integration with existing industry standard components keeps costs low for race teams.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
