Rugby is a physical, high intensity sport, but its reputation continues to be linked with an increasing injury rate. To address this the presence of technology in rugby needs to be expanded, updating the injury recovery process.

Precision Contact aims to tackle this problem through accurate visualisation of the impact on athletes in contact sports and create an injury recovery/rehabilitation process that is better informed and significantly streamlined. The smart wearable designed contains tens of thousands of pressure sensing areas, fitted onto a compression top. These sensors join together to create a flexible pressure matrix. They produce a data output, stored by the unobtrusive, ergonomic Hub fitted to the inside of the top. This output is sent to the accompanying software and mapped to a 3D model, creating a visually engaging, informative pressure map of the player to show their contact profile.
