Monitum Seizure Alarm

Monitum is a speculative project into the world of seizure prediction using next generation technology in ear EEG and mobile processing. Epilepsy is a condition that effect around 50 million people worldwide and causes danger and distress due to the unpredictable nature of seizures.

The EEG earpiece was made using generative design in Fusion360 and is custom for each user to ensure a tight fit for the dry contact electrodes. This data is then transmitted via the Bluetooth module behind the ear to a phone or a dedicated processing unit carried by the user.

The unit uses a neurosynaptic processor allowing for low power consumption when running deep learning algorithms which is needed for seizure prediction. When a seizure is detected the module behind the ear vibrates allowing the user to get themselves to safety.
